Holiday/Christmas/Midwinter cards

Would anyone like a holiday card? I have some international stamps, and feel I should send some soon. It will probably arrive sometime before January.

Comments are screened, and feel free to PM me addresses. I'm not doing any other seasonal memes/exchanges this year, because of constant exhaustion/businesss/deadlines but I think cards are a thing I can manage.

Life update

I did get to university. I did not get the grades for my first choice, which is irksome, but I've started to settle at the one I'm attending, which is nice. I am currently procrastinating from working on an assignment which I've really over thought (i.e. "I started the reading and vague planning when I got this assignment six weeks ago, and now I have too many thoughts on it and by now I'm convinced someone who's barely looked at the material will do this assignment better than me because they won't have over thought it")

My uni also really focuses in the first year/first term on 1) telling people not to worry 2) going over very basic stuff. This is grand, and nice, but also incredibly frustrating and currently bad for my particular brand of weird brain. (As part of my anxiety obsession is to doubt my ability at anything, a subject at which I am actually quite good and ahead of fellow students combined with lots of 101 level work and being told not to worry somehow manages to feed into this).

I'm starting to write a bit again, short stories and poetry. I'm not NaNo-ing, because November is nearly always a bad time for me depression wise, and making myself have another thing I need to do would be a bad idea, but I am still doing some writing. I'm also coming to terms with the fact that maybe I will never write a novel, that it's not my form, and although that makes me sad that doesn't bely that I'm good at other forms of writing. I'm aiming to submit some poetry to competitions soon, and try to start submitting stories again.

Return from a daftly long unexpected hiatus

Hey guys. So I kind of dropped off here completely in March, because of a range of things. Some of these were:

A bereavement in early March which threw me off kilter for a bit
My course having an absurd schedule, which meant hardly any marked work/deadlines in the first term and a bit and then ALL THE DEADLINES ALL THE TIME in the last half of the course.
Sitting an A level
Injuring myself in a way both comic and deeply painful at a LARP event. (Required stitches in my calf, it is probably 80% healed now, but it has been 80% healed for a bit)
My healing prowess, which can only be described as having reverse Wolverine healing powers.
The weather causing constant migraines, and hay fever.
And worsening the weird pain thing I have been having, which I have been informed is probably either arthritis or gout. (Have to have blood tests next week to ascertain which, or either)
And just... constant exhaustion.

Good News: I have now done an Access To Higher Education course, and an A2 in English Language and Literature. Both of those were good, and should mean that come September or October I am GOING TO UNIVERSITY, to do English. I will post a bit more about the course later, and am waiting on grades (I have one really high offer, and one really low offer, and I do not know if I will meet the high one but am hoping to do so).

Other good news: I am going to World Con, in the company of my AWESOME BABY SISTER, whom I have finally convinced to go to something geeky *with* me for the first time since 2008 or so. (Note: awesome Baby Sister is in fact nearly 20, and did go to lots of geeky things with me up until about the age of 13/14 when she got really into Manga and started only going to geeky things related to that. She is a really good artist, and really clever, and also going to university in the autumn, but to do History). We have cosplay plans.

Apologies: to the person from the March Tarot draw, whose cards I never got round to typing up.

I will post more later but yes, I am back, to an extent.

Three Card Draw for the March Full Moon

Hallo, I'm doing another Three Card Draw. This is open until 12 pm GMT on Tuesday 18th Marcg and any questions asked until it's marked closed count.

It is entirely free, although there is a tip jar at the bottom.

I'm your host, Inigo- I've been practising Tarot for about three and a half years now, and first got into it through a free draw on someone elses journal, so figured karmically I owed it back.

The deck I'm using this month is the Lo Scarabeo Manga Tarot, an interesting deck which flips the traditional genders of many of the cards.

WHAT TO DO: Ask your question, either under your username or if it's an anonymous post signed with a name I can use for the reading.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a lawyer, doctor or licensed professional.  Comments will be screened until I answer them- if you wish yours to stay screened, please put a note in it.

Non reading based update

I'm about halfway through an Access course at a local college- at the moment I am finding this a lot of work, in a way I can't quite understand- not that I wasn't expecting work, just that I find judging the kind of work we are doing quite hard, and pacing is difficult. I'm also doing an A2 in English, which makes my Tuesdays ludicrously long (my A2 English is 6.30-9.30, and Access is 10-5, depending, so trying to keep momentum up is difficult). Part of this is the standard case of me overloading/deciding to do more than one thing when it is a bit unwise, part of it is me trying to banish long felt guilt and unfinishedness with my A levels by wanting to complete at least one.

I am enjoying the course, and I like the people on it. I ended up doing some trans 101 with coursemates at Christmas, which went okay (I didn't out myself at the beginning of the course, hoping I could manage stealth, but I didn't and getting constantly misgendered was exhausting). I'm not managing enough of other things, to be honest- two full days of college tends to take a lot of my energy, plus working on stuff around that. I'm trying to get better with managing time (if I don't improve now, how will I ever do so), but it's hard.

I've had a cold most of this week, frequently to "being completely out of action" levels, which also isn't great (although I am grateful for getting it in half term, not during college).
Anyway, am going to try and post more.
(The full moon looks especially cool tonight, by the way)

Empire E3 win conditions

I will have a good event if:

  • Gawain discovers more about Eternals/the realm of autumn

  • Gawain forms some form of formal allegiance between Dawn and the Brass Coast

  • Gawain is metaphysical with the truth about House Martell and how glorious we are

  • Gawain gets any more titles

  • Gawain awkwardly flirts with at least two or three attractive young men

  • Gawain visits more of the nations than he has before

  • Gawain gets thrown out of a nation

  • Gawain performs at least three songs

I will have a great event if:

  • Gawain gets a meaningful promotion in rank (i.e. Bourse, Conclave, Senator)

  • A young man takes a Test of Ardour for Gawain

  • Gawain accidentally or otherwise takes a Test of Ardour

  • Gawain Accidentally Does Politics

I will have an incredible event if:

  • Gawain manages to seduce the pretty Eternal from E2

  • Or indeed talk to that Eternal
